Federal and State services and assistance CAN be an important help to you and your child but be prepared for many forms, long wait lists, and more forms.  Depending on your situation, it may or may not be worth your time.  In our case, we were lucky that our insurance had just started to provide coverage for things like ABA therapy. We had started down the path for State and Federal help and the wait lists were so long that we knew it would put our son further and further behind. Our recommendation to you is that if you go down this route for help, do so early in the process. Get your diagnosis as early as possible and start the paperwork ASAP. If your insurance won't cover the appropriate services, this may be your only choice.

It may be painful but your child is worth it.
